We decided to take a moment to share some of the best augmented reality mobile games for iOS and Android that we have seen thus far. From having an intense workout to shooting some hoops, these three mobile games are worth trying out!
Who doesn’t like zombies? Well… me, but that’s beside the point. I still think this game is pretty awesome though. The app allows you to take the rote out of your route by jogging through a zombie apocalypse. While you’re running and listening to music, the app actually gives you random commands from base to pick up survival supplies, which you do by meeting certain time targets. This lets you go into bursts of speed, in order to outrun the zombies and burn some extra calories. Win. Win.
Pros: You don’t need to check your mobile screen. Just listen to the audio and run.
Cons: Occasionally weird audio noises, like running through mud.
Mario gets real! This mobile game not only allows you to play Mario in augmented form, but lets you choose your course. First you take a picture of the space you want converted into Mario’s world. Then you just have to zip around, gather coins and dodge foes.
Pros: Solid mechanics and hello… it’s Mario!
Cons: You need to take several photos to find one that’s interesting to play.
Ready to shoot some hoops? This game is more to show off your bball tricks, then playing the actual game, but that’s still pretty cool. You would need to print out the required marker symbol and lay it flat, then point your camera to it. Once the virtual basketball hoop appears on the marker, just use your slider to shoot and score.
Pros: Realistic situations, like the ball going around the rim.
Cons: It’s a little too simple.
