JBKnowledge, Inc., a technology solutions provider and consultant to the insurance, construction and risk management industries has recently joined Epson America’s Moverio Developer Program to add its SmartReality application to the Moverio™ BT-200 smart glasses. The app includes augmented reality viewing technology and can help commercial builders with their construction projects by combining 2D plans and 3D project models for a mobile and enhanced visualization of different projects.
SmartReality can give project owners, builders and developers a 3D interactive Building Information Modeling view just by looking at the 2D plain paper construction plans through the Epson Moverio BT-200 smart glasses. The real-world, unobstructed perspective of projects can help users with design, planning and construction management tasks. “We are excited to join the Epson Moverio developer community as we bring our app to builders, contractors, and developers in construction market around the world,” that’s what James Benham, president of JBKnowledge said about joining the Moverio developer community. “The Epson Moverio BT-200 smart glasses are a perfect complement to our SmartReality app in the office and for construction uses in the field.”
The Moverio BT-200 leverages Epson’s patented technologies to offer immersive binocular smart glasses experience specially optimized for augmented reality apps. The glasses also includes Epson’s project technology so when users are looking through them, they see a big, colorful and sharp screen which stays 16 feet away. That image is reflected by miniature projects from each earpiece in your field of view into to semi-transparent mirrors. “We are pleased to support JBKnowledge in their mission to simplify document and work flow management for the construction industry,” that’s what Moverio developer program lead and product manager of New Ventures for Epson America, Eric Mizufuka said when welcoming JBKnowledge to the developer program. “JBKnowledge is an exciting Moverio developer creating innovative, real-world use-cases in the enterprise space.”
The smart glass includes a front-facing camera with ability to capture video and image that detects real-world markers for AP applications, hands-free navigation and head-motion tracking features. It’s available in some selected online retailers and can be also directly ordered from Epson for MSRP $699.99.
